The visible rack looks to be bolted to the pavement.
If that is the case, it is relatively easy for a thief to undo a couple of bolts, bend the rack up a bit and slip the chain, cable, lock and bike off of the rack. Could be quicker and easier than breaking the locking system.
Louis, I don't mind arty racks if they are nominally useful.These meet that criteria.
TBCC, If you look at the photo in original: http://www.flickr.com/photos/targetsalad/4509452599/sizes/o/ You can see they used some insanely large security allen bolts that would be pretty hard to get out quickly. I don't think you could slip a proper lock off the end parts they are pretty big.
The invisible rack has some faults that I can't quite describe, easier to see though.
