Now I *have* seen everything.

That is truly the result of some unholy experimentation... the mating of a Presta valve and a Schraeder valve, two species previously believed to be incompatible. Oh, the humanity!

Props to Moscaline's House of Oddities for digging this one up. What's next, BikeSnobNYC's mythical fixed-gear pie plate?

We have tubes with valves like that (through not the dorknuts, interestingly). They came stock on our Bakfiets. Perhaps it's a Dutch thing.

Jason,

My first impression was to kill it lest it spread. But both tubes had them, and I thought, oh god, it is too late....

Christian,
These were Schwalbe 20" tubes, I think that makes em german. It seems weird to thread them all the way down without dorknuts...

The tires on our bakfiets are Schwalbes, so perhaps the tubes are too (haven't had to fix one yet, thank goodness).
Dorknuts are just exactly the sort of thing you may find a small child playing with and deciding whether to swallow (ask me how I know), so they're best kept away from human living quarters at any rate.
